In the heart of the Tallangatta Valley – a place so peaceful it feels as though you’re the last humans on Earth – Blue Ridge Estate is taking the idea of off-grid getaways to lofty new heights. Perched on a ridge surrounded by 150 acres of beef farm in regional Victoria’s Upper Murray, the escape’s chalet-style bones have been given a mindful glow up. The adults-only Slow Stay was gently renovated using reclaimed materials where possible and is now powered by renewable energy. Touches like antiques sourced locally are scattered throughout, and the lofted ceilings and large windows bestow the impression of being enveloped in nature. The bathroom’s freestanding bath and floor-to-ceiling windows woo lovebirds and nature fiends alike with endless views out over the High Country. With the addition of a wood-fired hot tub outside in early 2023 plus water features and feeders for native birds to play, couples with nature and romance high on their priority list should flock here. Each stay also sees two percent of the profit going to local wildlife rescue organisation Kangaloola Wildlife Shelter.
