Slip through the door of this charming historic cottage in the foothills of the Otways Ranges and you’ll discover an oasis of solitude. Set on a quarter of an acre, the biggest drawcard here is the sprawling courtyard with its workshop and bar, games room and projector for movie nights, firepit, hammock and outdoor iron bathtub. Named in honour of the bootmaker who built the cottage and stables in 1864, a seven-month refurbishment in 2021 has seen Bootmakers Cottage born anew. Inside, wood panelled walls and a rustic bathroom with handmade corrugated iron shower create a warm and welcoming nest for you and your family to retreat to, tucked into cosy linen bedding. Don’t be surprised if you wake to the aroma of coffee and freshly baked bread drifting in from the Otway Artisan next door.
