Encased completely in glass – yes, floor and ceiling too – Kahutara PurePod is perched high above the Kahutara River with dramatic landscapes and native bushland stretching in every direction. Only 20 minutes inland from Kaikoura and 2.5 hours north of Christchurch, this is the perfect weekender for anyone needing a break from the big smoke. Hike the bush trails on the property – 200 acres of which has been allowed to revert to bush, hosting one of the largest populations of the South Island Robin found anywhere in New Zealand – then cosy up inside with a board game or use the telescope to explore the night sky.
