When your holiday must-haves include fresh air, peace and quiet, great food and most importantly good wine, there’s no better place to head than a private cabin tucked within a vineyard. Located in the beautiful Margaret River region in Western Australia, Petit Eco Cabin sits quietly on the edge of certified organic winery, Windows Estate. Every piece of furniture within this architecturally designed timber pavilion was made locally, including the bed which lays beneath a stunning waterfall window where you can drink in the bucolic vista beyond. The timber in the building itself was milled personally by the owners’ father from fallen trees on a family farm. Laze on one of the daybeds and read a good book, soak in the outdoor 1940s vintage bathtub, or warm your body by the fireplace fit with a bakers oven. Sustainable by design, the northerly position takes advantage of the sun and cooling sea breezes and the cabin also catches its own rainwater. Grey water is recycled onto newly planted fruit trees and the hot water system is run on solar. The cabin is also a testament to Australian products and craftsmanship, with every fixture, fitting and piece of decor sourced locally. The coffee is Margaret River Roasting Co, the shampoo and conditioner both from local olive oil producers, Vasse Virgin, while the Windows Estate cellar door – the purest paddock-to-pour experience – is only a couple minutes’ walk from your door.
