Humble, homely and heartfelt, Sailors Heart is a modern take on the classic Australian beach shack, found around an hour south of Sydney, on Dharawal land. It’s a petite refuge for those who crave the simple life – days ruled by the weather, the grumble of your tummy, and wherever your daydreams may carry you. It’s beds draped in crochet, oil lanterns and well-thumbed books; organic eggs from the owner’s chooks, and fresh cake served on vintage crockery (with a very impressive teaspoon collection, to boot). Privately tucked into the leafy property of the family home, it’s also a short barefoot stroll to the beach, along with eateries and ethical gift stores. From the balcony you’ll witness fiery sunsets and the Australian stingless bees in action, and after a fire pit session, maybe spot owls and a possum or two – the binoculars are a handy touch.
