In the seaside hamlet of Weymouth, 60 km from Launceston, an original ‘60s beach cottage sits in the sand. Renovated over 12 months, the aptly-named Shack in the Dunes is a living time capsule, capturing the essence of childhood beach holidays with decorations foraged from the seaside over many years. From the top of the dune you can see over the mouth of the river and catch glimpses of the beach. This is the storybook scene of beachcombing, barbecues, stories by the fire, fishing, bike rides, afternoon drink on the deck. Then you get up the next day and repeat it all over again.

“Shack life is a feeling you get as soon as you drive in. An escape. A place to switch off and unwind.”
