Inspired by the simple life and the ebb and flow of the tides, these two modern huts sit side by side on a windswept hillside, overlooking the rolling waves of Ahipara Bay. Utilitarian in design but with comforts that run from organic bedding to an outdoor bath, the exteriors of The Huts mimic the rustic seaweed picker shacks and tramping huts found dotted across New Zealand. Although both huts are identical, each has is own personality and feel. One is nestled quietly in the hill-side and the other pushed further out to take in the wild and majestic scenery. Natural timbers line the interior walls with each containing kitchen, bathroom, queen bed, day bed, plus locally made furniture, art and breakfast produce. Outside the owners have been gradually regenerating the land, planting thousands of native trees as well as a food forest and raised garden beds brimming with fresh herbs (feel free to pick some during your stay). Spend your days watching the long tides roll in and out of Shipwreck Bay, or bring your surfboard and dive into the action down below.
