Tucked into a peninsula of land that reaches into the Huon River, Blueberry Bay Cottage feels like your own private island in a dreamy water world. Swaddled by eight acres of natural bushland, this is a place to turn off your phone and take long walks along the shoreline of Fossil Beach; to collect oysters from the rocks and enjoy them with a glass of bubbles in the wood-fired hot tub. You’ll find fishing rods in the cupboard should you wish to throw in a line, or if you’ve got access to a kayak, you can launch into the bay from the front pathway. Inside, the pet-friendly cottage is stocked with freshly made bread and marshmallows for roasting over the fire. If you should feel the pull to explore the local food and wine scene, Cygnet is only 10 minutes’ drive away.
